Beyond 2010
"What happens when the 375th Anniversary celebration is
over?"
by Chris Drelich, webmaster
Luckily, we've got plenty of time before the next major event - the 400th Anniversary in 2035 (We'll start planning in 2030, for those of you who are interested). Shorter-term, here's what will be happening:
Merchandise will still be available until it runs out. We still have commemorative program books and some other items, so please visit our "Items for Sale" page while supplies last!
The website will live on as www.Newbury1635.org. I have already bought the domain and linked the two sites, so both Newbury375 and Newbury1635 will bring you to the same place. I forsee the post-2010 site being very much the same as it is now - an online repository of all things related to Newbury's history - images, stories, information, etc. I will try to keep the public informed of events of historical interest, as well.
Some sort of event may happen again in May of 2011, similar to our Gala Celebration Weekend (on a smaller scale, obviously). Perhaps the historical exhibits, games, animals, a BBQ, and a concert. If you are interested in helping with something like this, let me know. We might want to wait a year and try it in 2012.
I will continue to solicit praise, criticism, ideas, and items for the website. Drop me an e-mail at webmaster @ newbury375.org (no spaces in the real e-mail address).
See you soon,
Chris Drelich
